There are many boat manufacturers out there that will gladly
custom build the boat of your dreams to suit your wants and needs. Once you have
a list of the things you want in your boat, the boat manufacturers can supply
you with pictures, amenities, and prices. You will find that you can usually get
a much better deal if you deal with the manufacturer directly.
Another way to get some good ideas is to attend a boat show. Many of the larger
cities offer boat shows where the boat manufacturers display some of their
workmanship for you to view. These shows are usually low pressure since the
salesmen are not actually selling boats off the showroom floor. Most of them
will gladly discuss with you what they can offer you in the way of a custom
build. Often they will also offer some special deals if you purchase or order
your boat from them while the show is in progress.
Finding Boat Manufacturers
After you decide what type and size boat you want, finding a manufacturer is as
easy as sitting down at your computer. There are several sites that on the
Internet that list the top boat manufacturers in the country. You won’t
necessarily have to visit the manufacturer to get what you want. Many will have
websites that will give you an idea of the type work they do and most will be
glad to discuss your plans with you over the phone.
Before allowing any manufacturer to build your boat you should always check out
their credentials. Anybody can put out a pretty picture on the Internet but a
picture may not show you the actual quality of the boat. The Better Business
Bureau in the area of the manufacturer should be able to tell you if there are
any complaints lodged against the manufacturer. You might also be able to
contact other customers who have ordered boats from a particular manufacturer.
If you live in a rural area you may have to order a boat from a manufacturer in
another part of the country. This should be no problem if you check out all of
the details. Ask the manufacturer if they ship to your area and what additional
charges there will be for shipping. If they do not ship to your area they may be
able to recommend another shipper who does.
